TRISTAN –  ONE OF THE BEST FUNK/ACID JAZZ BANDS IN THE NETHERLANDS TODAY!

Be part of a very special night to hear one of the most lauded European bands “Tristan”, as they bring their 6th album release ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’ in their return to The Hampstead Jazz Club as part of their European Tour.

Dutch five-piece Tristan’s music can be best described as feel-good vintage Acid Jazz, with the energy, vibe and sounds of today, performed by some of the best contemporary pop/jazz musicians from Europe. Funky rhythm guitars, Hammond, Fender Rhodes, synths and a rhythm section that has been performing together for decades, playing solid grooves and tight punchy arrangements that have since become their trademark.

All this underpins singer Jaycilee’s stunningly beautiful and soulful vocals. It will take you back to that great warm sound of the 70’s, with a fresh breeze of influences from the present.

While Tristan’s music may sound like the high energy grooves of bands such as Tower of Power, Snarky Puppy, or classic Acid Jazz acts such as Incognito and the Brand New Heavies, what makes this group stand out from their contemporaries is the high quality of the compositions and arrangements.

Tristan’s debut release, ‘Full Power’ (2014) and their highly acclaimed follow up ‘2ndPhase” (2015), received rave reviews with both albums going straight to No 1 in the UK soul charts. Their third album ‘Lifestyle’(Spring 2016) proved that this is a band with something to say.

Next came ‘Live in Concert‘(2017) , an album with an extended band and sound.  In 2019 the studio album ‘The Spice of Five’, featuring the core 5-piece band, incorporated the full range of Tristan’s hallmark uplifting, pure and energetic grooves,  and was nominated for a German Grammy award (Schallplattenkritik Preis), which included touring Indonesia as part of their many performing highlights.

Now they are back with musical force, as they encapsulate audiences with the release of their 6th album  ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’, which will feature as part of their European tour and night at The Hampstead Jazz Club, and one not to be missed!

Endorsed by Bluey of Incognito as the best soul-jazz fusion band in the Netherlands. The new vocalist, Jaycilee, makes an impressive debut with a steady voice that doesn’t get lost in the tight performance, starting with the fast
number and exhilerating song ‘Perfect Girl’.

Their new album ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’ is packed with great grooves, tight bass lines, shimmering guitars with keyboards excursions always framing every composition perfectly. The vocal harmonies are gorgeous, and the leads are the icing on the cake! The question title is indicative of the time, but where the music is concerned…  The answer will
have to be… “Well, nothing!” Tristan just got better! Peace” – Bluey (Incognito / Citrus Sun / Solo Artist)

Tristan were an absolute blast! They nailed it right from the first number, impressing the audience with their exemplary musicianship and original compositions” – Steve Wright, Jazz Curator, Colchester Arts Centre Jazz Club, UK
