The David Gordon Trio returns to Hampstead Jazz Club for a special evening of music that brings together a carefully constructed first set and a more spontaneous second half. This will be the trio’s first appearance at HJC since 2023 and it promises to be an evening that showcases both the distinctive character of the trio and the freedom at the heart of their music.
THE DAVID GORDON TRIO
The first set, In C, is from their latest album ‘In C (Live from London)’, and built around a simple idea. Every piece is performed in the key of C. Rather than acting as a limitation, ‘In C’ becomes the thread that connects the entire set, allowing the music to move through remarkably different moods and styles. From the openness of ‘Greenland’, to the brightness of ‘Choro Moreno’, each piece brings its own personality while remaining part of a larger journey.
The second set will take a very different approach, drawing from across the David Gordon Trio’s repertoire and leaving plenty of room for the unexpected. With the structure loosened and the music allowed to develop in the moment, the trio will explore familiar material through a more impromptu lens. Together the two sets offer a glimpse of both sides of the trio, the precision and imagination of a carefully conceived musical project, and the spontaneity that makes a live performance uniquely theirs.

Please note, The Club is not licensed to allow access to Children under the age of 16 after 9pm, so for evening performances, please do not book tickets for children under the age of 16. Children aged 16 and above are welcome at any time.

Seats are not numbered and you will be seated at available tables. Please note tables seat 4 people, so for bookings of less than 4 people, you will be seated and share a table for 4.
For £15.00 Tickets:
This is a fully seated event. Seats are not numbered and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
Please note the Jazz Club is situated in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton Pub and access is via a number of stairs. The nearest toilets are situated on the 1st floor of the Pub.
