SIMPLY BOWIE

Oliver Darley & Chad Lelong

Following a rapturously received sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, we are excited to announce a very special one-off performance of Oliver Darley’s critically-acclaimed Simply Bowie show.

Covering every era of the Starman’s chameleonic career from Ashes To Ashes all the way through to Ziggy Stardust, this is the music of David Bowie as you’ve never heard it before. Accompanied by the brilliant jazz pianist, Chad Lelong, Darley dives beneath the surface of Bowie’s most iconic songs in his own inimitable style, stripping each one down to its bare essentials.

Although the prospect of filling the Thin White Duke’s shoes would be too much for most singers, Darley possesses what Ray Charles called “a voice that could sing the angels to sleep and wake the devil from his bed.” Needless to say, this is sure to be one of Hampstead Jazz Club’s most memorable and in-demand events of the year, so early booking is strongly advised.

The evening will begin at 7.30pm with what promises to be a fascinating in-depth Q&A session with BBC broadcaster, Jonathan Wingate, who worked as David Bowie’s publicist for many years. He will be talking about his time with Bowie and discussing the impact of his music with Oliver Darley and Chad Lelong.

‘Oliver Darley has a voice that curls your toes, vibrates in your spine and causes your mouth to drop open.’ Evening Standard
