Join Sean Fyfe and his quartet for a night of swinging bebop! Featuring award winning Canadian guitarist Sam Kirmayer, and London jazz stars Darren McCarthy and Joe Dessauer.

Sean Fyfe is a Canadian jazz pianist who has lived and performed professionally in New York, London and Montreal. He has appeared on recordings with Sam Kirmayer (In This Moment, 2022, Opening Statement, 2017) and Al McLean (Conduit, featuring Azar Lawrence, 2014) as well as his first release as a leader (Late Night, 2022). He has toured across Canada, and has performed at notable London venues, including Piano Bar Soho and Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as notable North American venues including Yardbird Suite, Upstairs Jazz Club, Dièse Onze, Mezzrow, Fat Cat, Frankie’s, Jazz on the Wing, Hermann’s Jazz Club and the TD Victoria Jazz Fest.

Sean holds a graduate degree from Manhattan School of Music, where he studied privately under pianists Jeremy Manasia and Garry Dial. He also holds an undergraduate degree from McGill University, where he studied privately under pianists Andre White and Joshua Rager.

Sean is active on the music scenes in New York, London and Montreal, and has worked with a number of American musicians including Evan Sherman, Alex Claffy and Joe Farnsworth, some of Canada’s top musicians such as Andre White, Dave Laing, Adrian Vedady and Sam Kirmayer, as well as UK based musicians Dave O’Higgins, Matt Fishwick, Dave Chamberlain and Jamie O’Donnell. Sean’s playing draws heavily on the music of Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly and Cedar Walton.

“★★★…Elegantly formal and has a cloak of restraint. However it clearly demonstrates that he is an accomplished pianist. The band continues on its excursion across musical styles, tempos and harmonies, showing that although this is not a regular aggregation, they have the chops to deliver the goods.”—Pierre Giroux, All About Jazz review 2022

Right from the opening guitar chords hitting your ears, you know you’re in for something special here. These four Canadians decamped to London, Fyfe’s current home base, and blasted away on some swinging, jumping club jazz that can turn a clod into a finger popping daddio. In the pocket at all times, this crew are true practitioners of the art and they deliver like champs.”—Chris Spector, Midwest Record review 2022
