The Hampstead Jazz Club is thrilled to announce the return of this marvellous band comprised of four highly talented and sensitive artists, who will take you on a beautiful trip exploring various landscapes.

The music of Cedar Walton is rooted in jazz but is also influenced by latin music, which offers a great combination of grooves and melodies to the listener.

The compositions are wonderful and the harmonic structures are suitable territory for improvising and creating some beautiful atmospheres.

The band is passionate about Cedar Walton’s music and looks forward to sharing some great moments with the audience.

This is a new band, created by Renato in October 2018. All four amazing musicians share the same love for the music of Cedar Walton.

Renato is on tenor sax, originally from  Naples, Italy, and resident in London since 1999. Renato works regularly between the UK, Paris, Italy, Spain and Switzerland as a very respected and sought after saxophonist.

On the piano is one of the most in-demand, swinging piano players on the UK scene, the highly-talented pianist from Kent, Jake Werth.

On the bass, one of the top UK bassists, Lorenzo Morabito. Despite being only 20 he is one of the most sought-after bassists in the country, playing with all the top names from UK.

Finally, on the drums, another highly talented artist, Alfonso Vitale, born in Sicily, Italy, and now resident in London since 2015. Alfonso is also very busy, playing with many bands in addition to being in Renato’s band for the last 8 years, playing every Monday upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s.

“His solos tell a story. Their lines unfold with a natural flow, especially on the ballads ‘For Heaven’s Sake’ and ‘Portrait of Jenny’.” – Jack Massarick, Evening Standard ****

“Renato is a superlative saxophonist with a passionate and poetic soul. He has all the virtues – a beautiful sense of time and pacing and a technique which effortlessly projects his brilliantly flowing ideas.”  – Ian Carr, Jazz writer

“…When you hear it on the subtly-simmering ‘For Heaven’s Sake’ you know you’re in the presence of a master improviser.”Brian Blain, Jazz UK review
