Phemo Quartet Performs Anti-Revelation
Wednesday 19th October 2022
Tickets: £20.00 Seat at a shared Table for 4 /£15.00 Seat – No Table
The Hampstead Jazz Club presents Phemo Quartet Performs Anti-Revelation, an eclectic musical ensemble blending melodic styles and instrumental conversations.
Formed in 2019 by Iranian composer and pianist, Ashkan Layegh, in London, Phemo aims to explore freedom through a highly-detailed composition.
Whether this freedom is caused by a melodic improvisation by the saxophone, or an interplay between the drums and bass, or simply a classical interpretation of the score, creating a new musical language, in association with memory, this has always been the front matter for the ensemble.
Diverse background of the personnel, makes Phemo’s sound a collision of various musical forces, such as Traditional Persian Music, 60’s Avant-Garde and Experimental Music, Progressive Rock of 70s,, Modal Jazz of Miles Davis/John Coltrane, and Swiss Contemporary Music.
Ashkan Layegh – Composition/Piano
Sam Norris – Alto Saxophone
Gonçalo Maia Caetano – 5-String Electric Bass
Harry Ling – Drums
