The Hampstead Jazz Club is excited to welcome the return of this breezing Brazilian band to our British shores.  When you listen to the free flowing sound of smooth samba, heavenly shift shaping vocals and percussion packing a punch, you will be transported to the effervescent sea shores and streets of Brazil.

This will be a sell-out so early booking is strongly advised!

The Nayla Yenquis Group is a delicious Latin American band playing MPB which literally stands for Popular Music of Brazil.

Arising at the same time as the eclectic, innovative Tropicália sound, MPB is a rich, poetic style that incorporates the sounds of both the Samba and Bossa Nova, mixed with elements of contemporary jazz which has also contributed to the sound.

The Nayla Yenquis Group’s repertoire is a diverse eclectic mix of their own unique compositions and exciting versions of  Brazilian classics interspersed with their own original songs.  Their music moves beautifully between bossasamba and partido alto whilst combining foreign influences of jazz and soul, inspired by major composers of this style which include music by Chico BuarqueTom JobimElis Regina and Gilberto Gil.

The trio will be presenting an enticing amalgam of contemporary Jazz and Brazilian song and together with the punctuating Brazilian percussion, will leave you gasping for more. Let the music do the talking, so just book your seats to this bossa/samba/jazz/soul extravaganza and experience it live at the Hampstead Jazz Club.
