The Great Guitarists Songbook is a natural evolution from last year’s shows which centred on the 1950’s. This second incarnation moves into the decades beyond and delivers a stylish tribute to some of the outstanding virtuoso players of past and present as well as the lesser-known guitarists who shaped the sound of recording artists such as Joni Mitchell and Etta James. The band are joined by vocalist and songwriter Chess Galea who is recently back from her first US tour.
Michael John Ross emerged on London’s soul, funk, and acid jazz scene in the late 90’s before establishing himself as one of the UK’s top session players. His career has seen him work with the likes of Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac, Simon Le Bon and Joan Jett.
In 2019 he co-wrote, produced, and performed the stage show Seven Decades ‘ the story of the electric guitar’. The show became the first ever live performance of its kind to be commissioned by the V&A. Described by the Sunday Times as “A hugely impressive live music spectacular”.
