McAlmont & Webb album launch: ‘The Last Bohemians’

Launching their new album ‘The Last Bohemians’ at the suitably intimate Hampstead Jazz Club, David McAlmont and Alex Webb present a seductive set of originals and unusual cover versions, including cool jazz arrangements of songs by REM, Suede, Queen and even Lennon & McCartney.

Described by The Independent as ‘one of British pop’s most precious hidden treasures,’ McAlmont is best-known for his collaborations and chart hits with ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, but has long had an interest in jazz, performing at a John Coltrane tribute concert at the Barbican and in 2004 releasing Set One: You Go To My Head, a selection of Cassandra Wilson and Betty Carter-inspired standards.

He has also recorded with Courtney Pine, Michael Nyman and David Arnold.  In 2016 he recorded the Alex Webb composition Me And My Crazy Ideas for the album Call Me Lucky by Alex Webb and the Copasetics. ‘Very probably the finest singing voice I’ve ever heard’ – Outlineonline.co.uk
