‘Something new and exciting’ says Jazz in Europe of vocalist Lulu Pierre, a startling arrival on the London jazz scene back at The Hampstead Jazz Club with MD/Pianist/Composer Alex Webb!

‘A voice that send chills down your spine. You know from the moment she walks on stage that she’s something special’ – Naomie Harris OBE (Academy Award, BAFTA & Golden Globe nominee).

A striking and chic figure on stage, Lulu has a rich mezzo-soprano capable of conveying deep emotion one moment and swinging hard the next.  Her accompanist and MD Webb has a long history of working with leading jazz vocalists; together they have created a vocal act which feels both fresh and classically jazz.

LULU PIERRE

Lulu Pierre performs a thoughtful range of material including unusual song choices and little-known gems from the jazz repertoire.  honing a tight, grooving jazz vocal act accessible to general listeners and jazz purists alike.

Lulu says, ‘I feel I’m informed by the great jazz singers who went before, but not a prisoner of their approach. So we can include some pop songs, some obscure choices, some originals and the way it comes out, I really feel like I’m expressing something of my own.’

ALEX WEBB

Alex Webb is a pianist, arranger and songwriter with a long history of working with leading jazz vocalists; his songs have been recorded by Liane Carroll, China Moses, Jo Harrop, Allan Harris, Cherise, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and many others.

‘Something new and exciting … Alex Webb’s fantastic arrangements allowed Lulu the space to make a clear statement – she has arrived’ Jazz in Europe

‘Brilliant vocals by Lulu backed by an amazing set of musicians. Thoughtful and great songs choices in the set. Definitely looking forward to hearing more from Lulu’DesignMyNight.com
