Hampstead Jazz Club is proud to be one of the venue partners of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2021. From 12th – 20th November, we will be presenting an exciting mix of superb music, showcasing an eclectic array of world class artists in the intimate setting of the capital’s coolest new jazz club.

Leo Richardson

Leo Richardson is widely recognised to be one of London’s leading Jazz Tenor Saxophonists. He is best known for his honest, straight-head, contemporary hard-bop style and regularly hosts the Late Late Show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club with his own quartet.

His most significant influences include John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Horace Silver and Art Blakey.

The recent release of Leo’s debut album ‘The Chase’, continues to make waves, alongside his notable performance and recording credits for artists which include: Jamie Callum, Gregory Porter, The BBC Proms, Il Divo and The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.

“I can’t remember hearing a more impressive debut.

The style is hard bop, but music as good as this is beyond category.”

Dave Gelly, The Observer 5*

“When I heard this album my immediate thought was that all bets are off regarding the CD of the Year.”

Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here

Leo’s quartet consists of killer artists who are all standouts in their own right. Rick Simpson, winner of the Yamaha Scholarship Prize for Outstanding Jazz Musicians, resides on piano. Tim Thornton, one of the most sought-after young musicians of his generation, drives a hugely vibrant, powerful double bass. And, in keeping with the talent in this line-up, the exceedingly diverse Ed Richardson rounds things off on drums.

Please note, The Club is not licensed to allow access to Children under the age of 16 after 9pm.

Please NOTE, there is NO food served in the Jazz Club, there is a bar for drinks. We advise booking a table for dinner at the Duke of Hamilton upstairs at least 1hr before show-time – Book Here
