Returning to the The Hampstead Jazz Club Katy Jungmann will be performing the original tunes from the album ‘(K)now Straition’. Katy showcases her simple, expressive approach to Jazz. This album captures her saxophone musicianship, effortlessly made and grasping the beauty of the instrument.

It’s not like any other jazz. The whole thing has a Brazil/New York feel: cool, unpretentious and smokey!

Featuring the amazing Roberto Manzin on reeds, complimenting the music with his virtuosity. The rhythms will be energetically pushed around the room by congas and electric bass.

Expect warm harmonic horn tones and some free playing, Latin beats and textural bass. A mix of original compositions that keep you wanting more.

Katy says: “Influenced by all the music I’ve listened to, these tracks are an indulgence. We are so happy to be back at the HJC to show you how we have been developing and receive your warm welcome

Both Katy and Roberto come from musical families and have studied many instruments since childhood. Complimenting each other’s playing, both have potential to take this evening everywhere.

Steve Bewes on percussion specialises in rhythms and music from Latin American has played with notable musicians, Roberto Pla, Satin Singh and Claud Deppa. He has been a musical director with the London School of Samba and Paraiso School of Samba, helping the latter win the Notting Hill Carnival.

Still bursting with energy, the band will be pushing to tour the UK next year including jazz workshops to provide the inspiration to grow the work.

Jazz has a unique place in creative music because it adapts and grows with each performance. Without you there is no music.
