Since their very first performance five years ago, playing on the jazz show, ‘British Standard Time’, Andy and Jo instantly connected with one another and became the very best of friends on and off stage,

Andy’s skilful and captivating sound, perfectly compliments Jo’s smokey vocal tone, and the trusting and playful interaction between horn & voice is a joy to watch and hear. Two passionate performers who live and breathe the songs they play.

They will be performing some of their favourite music, including songs from Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan and Clifford Brown, Ella & Louis, Billie Holiday and Buck Clayton, plus some of their original music & standards from Andy’s album, “The Rise Of The Spider Monkey

JO HARROP

Having received unanimous critical acclaim for her last three albums, Jo Harrop recently sold out two shows at Ronnie Scott’s and a string of dates around the UK and in New York. Blessed with a chocolate and cream voice that is delicately poised between beguiling sensuality and exquisite fragility, her mellifluous music could melt the hardest of hearts.

The extraordinary voice of Jo Harrop, beautiful, sublime, spine-tingling – what a voice!” Jo Whiley 2021

Jo Harrop is a rising name on the jazz scene today, her most recent albums being played on Jo Whiley’s radio 2 show, Iggy Pop’s BBC Radio 6 music show, and playlisted on Jazz FM, as well as gaining 4 and 5 star reviews in the Guardian, Jazzwise, The Mirror, Hifi Choice and more.

“Jo Harrop is a very fine jazz singer… a superb and unimaginably good vocalist ” – Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 6 Music

ANDY DAVIES

Trumpeter extraordinaire and purveyor of witty asides, Andy Davies adores the music from the hard bop and soul jazz era of the 50s and 60s particularly by the trumpet-led bands that recorded primarily for the premier New York based jazz record labels of Blue Note and Prestige. Andy passionately conveys the spirit of some of the top horn players, from the funky lyricism of Lee Morgan (The Sidewinder) through the soulful graininess of Kenny Dorham (Afro-Cuban) to the solid tone of Freddie Hubbard (Hub-Tones), with some mid-period Miles Davis (Workin’, Cookin’, Relaxin’ and Steamin’) thrown in for good measure!

Andy Davies is an award winning British trumpeter, writer and comedian leading his own quartet, currently resident band for over 10 years at Ronnie’s Scott’s famous Wednesday night jam session.

He is a key member of the Soho.Live collective as a recording artist, host and performer. His new album “Rise Of The Spidermonkey” is an explosion of catchy originals & reworked jazz classics displaying his savage bebop skills and world-class trumpet mastery. The album features an all star cast of award-winning musicians from the London jazz scene.
