Hampstead Jazz Club in association with The Soul Of London Radio and in partnership with PizzaExpress Live, proudly present the intriguing, soulful, innovative and soothing urban contemporary jazz styled musician, Merlon Devine. Merlon will be playing music from his latest album “Soul Jazz” as well as some exciting covers of artists that inspired him growing up. You will be moving and grooving to his mix of Soul and Jazz!
Merlon Devine’s signature sound and soulful expression on the horn has set him apart and propelled him onto various stages during his career. From mega churches to international jazz festival tours, concert halls and more, Merlon Devine is a veteran performer known for his dynamic and mesmerising stage presence.
Love and Inspiration can come from many places, but Merlon Devine’s love and inspiration to play music came from right inside his childhood home. Growing up with singing mother and a guitar playing father, Merlon and his nine siblings lived in a home filled with gospel music. Although Merlon did not have the gift to sing as many of his siblings did, he eventually found his voice on the saxophone.
He has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Paul Jackson, Jr., Tom Braxton and Michael Manson to name a few. He considers saxophonist Kirk Whalum and Najee as his musical mentors.
