Hampstead Jazz Club proudly presents a unique and fabulous night of smokey blues, raw funk, blistering reggae and silky soul sounds from amazing live band SOUL IMMIGRANTS, a long established ensemble and popular regulars at HJC.
This night will continue to celebrate their debut vinyl album on Lateralize Records and will be the launch night for their brand new single, a remixed version of ‘Back From The Brink’. The band has long been championed by the likes of BBC Radio London presenter Robert Elms (they have been on his show three times!) and BBC6 DJ, Craig Charles, plays them regularly on his Funk & Soul show.
The Soul Immigrants are fine purveyors of energetic soul ,funk (& beyond). Since they reformed in 2011 they have been quietly turning out vinyl only 45’s on their own label Dry Rooti Records until they signed to Lateralize Records. Positively fizzing with funky, life-affirming songs and an infectious, effervescent energy that’s been honed over the course of numerous live performances everywhere from Glastonbury to Ronnie Scott’s, Back From The Brink is the sound of The Soul Immigrants at the very peak of their powers.
“The Soul Immigrants are true soul brothers.” Charles Bradley
“These guys groove hard.” Fred Wesley
“Simply fantastic.” Robert Elms, BBC Radio London
