Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the year (2015) and critically-acclaimed tenor saxophonist, HELENA KAY makes their debut at Hampstead Jazz Club in an intimate evening of melodic and authentic jazz.
Tonight she will be joined by an old friend, our own Musical Director Jamie Safir on Piano (Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Claire Martin, Ian Shaw).
Helena Kay
Kay draws influence from different places which are important to them: Scotland, London, and New York, each of which have been their home during their career. While in New York, they had lessons with some of the greats of the contemporary jazz scene – Dayna Stephens, Melissa Aldana, Chris Cheek and Rodney Green.
Kay also plays with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, and has performed at numerous festivals such as London Jazz Festival, Glasgow Jazz Festival, as well as venues including as Ronnie Scott’s, The Royal Albert Hall and The Vortex.

Jamie Safir
Pianist, Keyboardist, Songwriter and Musical-Director Jamie Safir is in high demand across the UK and Europe and has worked with some of the finest names in jazz and pop music.
His performance credits include: Will Young, Birdy, Olly Murs, Rebecca Ferguson, Mica Paris, The Brand New Heavies, Steps, Louise Redknapp, Paul Heaton (The Beautiful South), Gabrielle Aplin, Tony Hadley & Tony Christie.
As a prominent member of the UK Jazz Scene he has worked with: Ian Shaw, Clare Teal, Judi Jackson, Claire Martin OBE, Liane Carroll, Joe Stilgoe, Iain Ballamy, Stan Sulzmann, Barb Jungr & Natalie Williams.

Seats are not numbered and you will be seated at available tables. Please note tables seat 4 people, so for bookings of less than 4 people, you will be seated and share a table for 4.

This is a fully seated event. Seats are not numbered and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
Please note the Jazz Club is situated in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton Pub and access is via a number of stairs. The nearest toilets are situated on the 1st floor of the Pub.
