Get ready for some mellifluous foot tapping jazz. Showstopping night of ebullient original music from the newly released album “Perihelion” by the incredible London based Alto Saxophonist Guido Spannocchi & his vibrant ensemble. Guido Spannocchi presents his latest album “Perihelion” with a stellar cast of musicians!

Danny Keane known for his work with the likes of Anoushka Shankar or Mulatu Astatke on piano, Jason Simpson being one of London’s most sought after sideman on bass and Pete Hill who formerly worked with Alfa Mist on drums.

The repertoire consisting of compositions by John Coltrane, Rashaan Roland Kirk and Ornette Coleman will also showcase a number of originals by Guido Spannocchi moving between groove, exotica and straight up jazz.

“Perihelion” is Spannocchi’s most ambitious work weaving lush melodic lines with subtle interplay and generous arrangements all being first takes and no edits this album is as truthful to Jazz tradition as it is modern in sound and composition.

The foot-tapping jive of Uphill Blues offers an instant mood indicator for the album, Phelps and Spannocchi fronting its perky, lead melody and improvisations, while Sylvie Leys’ almost throwaway, casual tenor is a dream.” – London Jazz News

This is an album full of charm, energy and, at times, a touch of Maverick mayhem. Whether you like your jazz,  traditional, harmonised or disharmonic, there is something here for everyone. Hugely listenable.” – Jazz Views
