Presenting Geoff Mason “ One of the UK’s leading jazz trombonists”  (All About Jazz) live from The Hampstead Jazz Club stage, together with UK’s foremost saxophonist Mick Foster.

Although tribute acts are usually associated with pop or rock groups, there is no reason why jazz musicians cannot pay tribute to their past heroes. On this gig, Mick Foster’s baritone sax and Geoff Mason’s trombone paid their respects to the cool sounds of the 1950’s that were produced by Mulligan’s sax and Brookmeyer’s valve trombone where their warm and swinging sounds found a way into the public’s soul worldwide. This quartets  playlist included many tunes associated with these two wonderful musicians and in particular, Foster’s light textured, bouncy playing emulates the Mulligan sound to a tee.

Geoff Mason is a Rath Artist for Michael Rath Trombones ,he has played at Ronnie Scotts, 606 Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Dean St, Cork jazz festival, Ealing jazz festival, EFG London jazz festival and has worked with many top jazz stars including visiting Americans Scott Hamilton, Greg Abarte and UK musicians Steve Waterman, Henry Lowther, Derek Nash, Steve Fishwick and Dave O’Higgins. He has also played with many Big Bands including the Ronnie Scott Big Band, Len Philips Big Band, Paul Booth’s Bansangu band, and toured with Martha and the Vandellas.
