DAVE BRISTOW

Dave Bristow is a pianist and composer from Birmingham. Currently based in Paris, he is fast emerging as one of the most original and talented jazz musicians in Europe. His main project is the Dave Bristow Quintet – a multinational supergroup – for which he writes all the compositions.

Dave’s first album entitled ‘Unknown Unknown’ was officially released via Disques JMS on February 25th 2022. It’s an originals project of cutting edge contemporary jazz for which he wrote all of the music. There’s a lot a variety here – swing, latin, ballads, an up tempo number in D major, a contemporary take on rhythm changes via Messiaen’s modes of limited transposition, as well as opening and ending themes to tie the album together.

The band will be playing tunes from this album as well as brand new music, due to released in 2024, for their sophomore release.

An open invitation to a thrilling musical experience – a sonic adventure which is often unpredictable but always exciting.Alex Dutilh – Open Jazz – Radio France discussing Dave’s album ‘Unknown Unknown
