Jazz FM’s Classic Album Playback series in partnership with the Hampstead Jazz Club.

CLAIRE MARTIN recreates songs from the classic album ‘Here’s to Life‘ by Shirley Horn (1992).

This evening will form two episodes of Jazz FM’s Classic Album playback series, that will broadcast on the station throughout October and in early November on Sunday nights at 9pm.

Hosted by jazz legend Ian Shaw, each week the programme concentrates on a pivotal classic jazz album that has stood the test of time. Recorded in front of a discerning audience at the Hampstead Jazz Club, a panel led by music journalist Jonathan Wingate will play tracks from the album and discuss their opinions on why the album as a collection of tracks worked to create the classic work we know of today. This will add a layer of knowledge and understanding that will feed the inquisitive mind of the audience.

Following the playback, Claire will re-create a number of tracks from the classic album, performing a mini-set, which you can hear as part of the broadcast.
