Hampstead Jazz Club presents ‘Ciyo’s Jazz Guitar Collective’ with featured guest…the legendary Jim Mullen with Winston Clifford on drums and Neville Malcolm on double bass. The evening will feature a  mixed palette of jazz standards and soulful grooves…a must-see concert!!!

Multiple winner of Best Guitar in British Jazz awards and received a lifetime achievement in 2015

Jim Mullen is a truly original voice in jazz guitar. Originally from Glasgow he moved to London in 1969, going on to work in the groups of Pete Brown, Brain Auger, Vinegar Joe and Kokomo. In 1975 he met saxophonist Dick Morrissey and they began a 15 collaboration in the Legendary funk band Morrissey Mullen.

After the demise of Morrissey Mullen, he worked with vocalists Claire Martin OBE, and Georgie Fame, and has also formed a series of groups under his own name.

As a side man he worked with U.S. stars like Mose Allison, Jimmy Smith, Percy Sledge, Teddy Edwards, Plas Johnson, Welden Ervine, Jimmy Witherspoon, Terry Callier and performed a long run with Gene Harris.

He is currently working with his Organ Trio, the lastest release is “Catch My Drift” on Diving Duck records. He also plays in the group of his wife, vocalist Zoe Francis.

Award-winning Jamaican-born guitarist

Ciyo has worked with an astonishing range of international artists including Suggs, Paul Weller, Annie Lennox, Ronnie Laws, Billie Paul, YolanDa Brown, Jazz Warriors, Sugar Minott, Dennis Bovell, Pee Wee Ellis, Sly and Robbie, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Carroll Thompson and Carleen Anderson. He has pioneered fusions of jazz and reggae, and released six albums under his own name.

Seats are not numbered and you will be seated at available tables. Please note tables seat 4 people, so for bookings of less than 4 people, you will be seated and share a table for 4.
