Chris Standring - Exclusive Intimate Performance

Sunday 24th February 2019

Limited Tickets Available (£20, £15)

The Hampstead Jazz Club is pleased to announce an exclusive opportunity to see Los Angeles based Jazz guitarist Chris Standring perform an unplugged set at the club. After a successful run at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Chris will be performing an intimate set with his trio, from his extensive 12 album catalogue.

This is a rare opportunity not to be missed!

Chris grew up in the small town of Aylesbury in England, later studying at London College of Music and writing music for the BBC before moving to LA in 1991. After establishing himself as a popular mainstay in the contemporary urban jazz genre with infectious R&B driven hits like “Cool Shades” (from Velvet), “Hip Sway” (title track from his 2000 album), “Ain’t Mad Atcha” (2003’s Groovalicious) and “I Can’t Help Myself” (from 2006’s Soul Express), Chris decided it was time to push his muse into offbeat and uncharted territory. His appreciative fans, radio programmers and critics fully embraced Blue Bolero (whose single “Bossa Blue” became the #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Track of the Year) and Send Me Some Snow, an inviting holiday collaboration of self penned songs with award winning pop/folk singer/songwriter Kathrin Shorr.

Chris continued radio chart success with his 2012 Electric Wonderland album, scoring a #1 hit with “Oliver’s Twist”, then “Sneakin’ Out The Front Door” also reached #1 from his 2014 album Don’t Talk, Dance. 2016 brought Chris Standring’s tenth solo album (titled Ten) spawning two billboard #2 hits “Ready Steady, Flow” and “Soul Vibration” and #1 with “Like This, Like That”.

On March 5th 2017 Chris recorded a live album with rhythm section and orchestra at Cadogan Hall, London with the owner of the Jazz Club promoting the event.

Chris Standring’s 12th solo album Sunlight, released 2018, features the legendary pianist Bob James, vocalist Mica Paris and a host of some of the finest players in the world.
