Join the award-winning harpist and singer Bianca Watts and friends, as she launches her Debut EP ‘Unravel’ live at The Hampstead Jazz Club! A night of two halves, the first part of the show starts with two impressive rising musicians as the delectable piano and voice of Tega Mendes and bellowing piano solos from Sam Peña.
The second part of the evening Bianca Watts together with bassist Giovani Cresseri and percussion, take you through a musical experience of original compositions for harp, voice, electric bass, double bass, clarinet and percussion, as Bianca is excited to set free music from her debut album “UNRAVEL”
Bianca began her classical harp and voice training when she was seven, culminating in a Masters degree with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2019.
Since graduating Bianca has turned her hand to singing and songwriting with the harp, drawing on her love of folk, pop and jazz music, as well as her classical background. Her compositions push the boundaries of typical harp music.
Bianca has performed her music at top venues around London, including Ronnie Scott’s, Les Fetes Galantes, Stop Look Listen and Soul Stripped Sessions.
Sam Peña
Sam is one of the first musicians in the world to have a Conservatoire Level Masters Course specially created for him, a ‘Piano Masters in Interpretation and Improvisation’ at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, bringing together his skills in jazz, composition and classical. Graduating with Distinction in 2019, he spent the following year as a Fellow with the Composition Department.
Sam is the resident pianist for DEBUT at Shoreditch Treehouse in London (No. 1 Airbnb Music Experience Globally in 2018 – Forbes) where he was featured by Steinway & Sons, and he was also part of Yamaha’s ‘Live From Home’ Europe wide Live Stream series.
Tega Mendes
Tega Mendes is an Indie Soul artist based in London. Growing up surrounded by different styles of music has heavily influenced her sound, as she draws inspiration from jazz, soul, pop and rock. A deeply-rooted love of harmony is evident throughout her arrangements, from the rich layering of melodies to the characterful, and at times, dramatic backing vocal arrangements. Her music has been compared to artists such as Lianne La Havas, Laura Mvula and ESKA. A deep thinker with an adventurous approach to composing, she is unafraid to blend quirks with calmness.
