Hampstead Jazz Club in partnership with PizzaExpress Live , proudly present brings you the incredible works of Astor Piazzolla performed by the BAIRES CONNECTION – A female Argentinian Trio that encapsulate all that is to love about the Argentine Tango and beyond!
Born from a crucible of Africa’s candombe, Europe’s waltz and polka, and Cuba’s habanera, tango crystalises cultural fusion and inclusion, symbolising the spirit of a new world. Astor Piazzolla revolutionised the genre, reshaping it into a new form of expression. He pushed the boundaries so boldly – and with such genius – that he took it beyond what was imaginable at the time, sparking bitter controversy between traditionalists and modernists. But time has worked its magic. Today, Piazzolla’s music is played, admired and loved all over the world. Passionate and complex. Profoundly Argentine, yet universal. That’s tango, that’s Piazzolla.
