Anna Ross

Born in London and raised in Newcastle, singer-songwriter Anna Ross has spent the last decade as Duran Duran’s backing vocalist since 2005, singing to tens of thousands of people in sold-out arena tours around the world.

Growing up in a musical house, it was her first love, and she was encouraged from an early age to explore her interest in music.  ‘I have been singing for as long as I can remember. My mother plays classical piano and before I could even speak I used to sing melodies back to her. And then as soon as I was able to talk, I would sing along with whatever song came on the radio, ’ Ross recalls.

After leaving school, Anna performed live around Newcastle at local gigs, and from there formed the duo, V Corporation, who had their national debut on iconic TV show, ‘The Tube’. Upon the duo’s breakup, Anna moved down to London and started working as a backing vocalist for Lisa Stansfield, Stereophonics, Tom Jones, Sting, and Tina Turner. From there she joined Duran Duran’s touring party as their backing vocalist, performing on several of their most recent recordings.

In 2016 she released her first album under her own name and is currently mixing her follow up album, recorded live in Chamonix last year. In rediscovering her love of jazz with pianist/arranger Alex Webb & his trio, Anna is performing her favourites from the jazz and American songbook canon from the 30’s and 40’s originally sung by the greats, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billy Holiday. She delivers these with a compelling vocal emotional and soulful integrity that has been engaging audiences around the world since the beginning of her career.

Alex Webb is a songwriter, arranger and pianist. His songs have been recorded by jazz singers China Moses, Mina Agossi, Sandra Nkake, Liane Carroll, Allan Harris, Alexia Gardner and Alexander Stewart, among others. His show ‘Cafe Society Swing’ has enjoyed several theatre runs in London and one in New York, where he received the New York Times ‘Critic’s Pick’.
