The Hampstead Jazz Club is very excited to present the intriguing, soulful, innovative and soothing urban contemporary jazz styled music, Merlon Devine is known for. His latest single “Shimmer” is currently being played on national and international radio stations.

Merlon Devine’s signature sound and soulful expression on the horn has set him apart and propelled him onto various stages during his career. From mega churches to international jazz festival tours, concert halls and more, Merlon Devine is a veteran performer known for his dynamic and mesmerising stage presence.

Love and Inspiration can come from many places, but Merlon Devine’s love and inspiration to play music came from right inside his childhood home. Growing up with singing mother and a guitar playing father, Merlon and his nine siblings lived in a home filled with gospel music. Although Merlon did not have the gift to sing as many of his siblings did, he eventually found his voice on the saxophone.

He has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Paul Jackson, Jr., Tom Braxton and Michael Manson to name a few. He considers saxophonist Kirk Whalum and Najee as his musical mentors.

Hill has over 20 years in the industry, respect has well and truly been earned from the East to the West. Touring across the world with some of music’s finest artists whose genres are as diverse as his abilities.

With roots in Gospel working with legends such as Andrae Crouch, The Clark Sisters, the late James Moore, the late Jesses Dixon, Ron Kenoly, Kelli Williams, Marvin Sapp, Nu Colours, The Inspirational Choir and The London Community Gospel Choir, he made his mark as ‘one of the best.’

His versatile nature and exceptional skill has also secured places on tours and as a highly regarded session guitartist in the world of R&B/Soul and Pop for the likes of Erykah Badu, Natalie ‘The Floacist’ Stewart (Floetry), C.J. Lewis, 3T, Dru Hill, Ne-Yo, Pharoahe Monche, Jamelia, Lemar, Beverly Knight, Hil St. Soul, Simon Webbe, Geri Halliwell, Phil Collins, Shaznay Lewis, the late Amy Winehouse, Don-E, Omar, Junior Giscombe, Janet Kay, Paulette Tarja, Winsome, Brenda Edwards (X-Factor), Rachel Hylton (X-Factor), Voices With Soul (X-Factor), Delta Goodrhum, Lucy Silvas, David & Carrie Grant, Izzi Dunn(Gorillaz), David McAlmont, Brian McFadden, Brian Temba (Lion King), Jamie Cullum, G4 and Manu Dibango.
