Allan Harris – Celebration of the Two Kings coming to The Hampstead Jazz Club in August

     The Genius of Eddie Jefferson

The Elegance of Nat King Cole

This will be un unmissable and sell-out show!

Honouring two of the most iconic jazz vocalists, DownBeat award-winning jazz vocalist/guitarist/composer Allan Harris has enthralled audiences across the globe with his exciting rendition of music from his recordings ‘Genius of Eddie Jefferson’ and ‘Long Live The King’, a tribute to Nat ‘King’ Cole, recorded live at The Kennedy Centre.

2018 was the centennial of Eddie Jefferson’s birth and 2019 is the centennial of Nat ‘King’ Cole’s birth.  Harris combines the undisputed talents of both these Artists into one spectacular show. Harris demonstrates how these two very distinctive and different masters of voice, born in the same era, bridged the gulf between swinging, hep cat vocalese and the nostalgic crooning of the American Standard Songbook.

Not only has Harris been described as the “heir apparent to Nat King Cole” – New York Times,  but his tribute to the great Eddie Jefferson has won him critical acclaim around the world.

‘No question that navigating the tricky, rapid-fire, street-smart wordplay of vocalese is a daunting endeavour. But although he is best known for his buttery tributes to Nat ‘King’ Cole and Billy Strayhorn, Harris ranks among the most dexterous singers around and he proves fully up to the challenge’ – Jazz Times
