Leading Uk Saxophonist Alex Garnett is joined by rising star sax man Fraser Smith for a night of Hammond Organ driven Soul-Jazz live from The Hampstead Jazz Club stage.

Citing Grant Green, George Benson and lesser known Hammond master Babyface Wilette as influences, the group plays fiery, funky swing and groove music rooted firmly in the 50’s/ 60’s traditions. Backed up by the UK’s very own Matt Skelton and Liam Dunachie, musicians that boast some of the most impressive Jazz CV’s in the country. For extra force, both sax men will be descending to the tonal depths and playing their baritone saxes on Smith’s original compositions.

ALEX GARNETT

Alex Garnett has been one of the leading saxophonists in the UK and Mainland Europe for over two decades, being instantly recognized by his dark, husky sound. A versatile musician and first call sideman, he has enjoyed success as both a jazz artist, composer and arranger, and an in demand session, studio and commercial saxophonist, having racked up countless recording credits along the way.

FRASER SMITH

Very much a working musician, Fraser plays between 250-300 gigs a year. He has led his own band at Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Live, The Southbank Centre, The Vortex, Jazz Bar Edinburgh, The Verdict, JazzUp!, Swansea Jazz Land, The Green Note, The Bebop Club, New Generation Jazz, Snape Maltings, and Crazy Coq’s to mention just a very small handful of past gigs. He has played London, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Swansea, Brecon, Bahrain, Guadalajara and Beijing jazz festivals and regularly performs on the continent with a variety of bands and projects. He released his debut album in 2023 on prestigious label UBUNTU Music.

Fraser : “A talent to watch” – Jazz wise
