To celebrate 8 years of his residency at The Hampstead Jazz Club, our first ever Musical Director Jamie Safir, is hosting a weekly Saturday night event showcasing some of the UK’s finest talent and biggest names in Jazz.

The first of these special events presents the remarkable vocal prowess of VANESSA HAYNES.

Performing on this night, in an extremely rare intimate duo with our long-standing resident Musical Director Jamie Safir, this will be a Vanessa Haynes show like no other, not to be missed.

VANESSA HAYNES

Trinidad born, Vanessa Haynes, is a vocal powerhouse to be reckoned with. Cutting her teeth as backing vocalist for artists such as Van Morrison and Chaka Khan, Haynes became front woman of legendary jazz funk outfit, Incognito, in 2008, touring with the band for over 14 years. With a voice one critic described as “combining the sting of Chaka Khan with the resonance of Aretha“, Vanessa has wowed audiences in some of the world’s most iconic venues. She has been a featured soloist at several BBC Proms and at London Jazz Festival’s opening Gala, Jazz Voice.

Described by the Guardian as ‘remarkable‘, she has appeared as a soloist in orchestral performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Vanessa has performed to sell out audiences at the renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Wilderness and Henley Festivals, Porgy and Bess in Vienna, Fasching in Stockholm, B Flat Club in Sardegna and other venues throughout Europe. Vanessa has enjoyed multiple collaborations with conductor Guy Barker both on concert hall and jazz club stages.

Vanessa Haynes’ voice is nothing short of mesmerising – soulful, powerful and deeply moving. A standout talent in her own right” – UK Soul
