SARAH L KING
King’s unique brand of soulful jazz has already caught the attention of critics and fans alike. Starting her singing journey in soul and gospel choirs before emerging as a solo artist, King’s music now regularly features on Jazz FM’s Dinner Jazz and has been spotlighted on Jazz FM’s ‘Single Of The Week’, and BBC3’s Jazz Requests.
Influenced from an early age by her father, a jazz trumpeter and bandleader, and her grandmother, an orchestral conductor and gifted pianist, King has inherited a good ear for harmonies and a highly intuitive melodic instinct. With shades of Karen Carpenter, Joni Mitchell and Roberta Flack in her own vocal style, King draws on wider influences from jazz, soul, acid jazz and disco in her songwriting.
With her critically acclaimed debut album “Fire Horse“ (produced by Claire Martin OBE, ECN Music) under her belt and her second album recorded and due for release early 2026, King continues to rise in popularity on the London (and Stockholm!) Jazz scene. With a superb line-up for this special evening, this is one not to miss!
‘King and her band are a great live prospect’ – Kevin Whitlock, Jazzwise
‘King has a most endearing vocal presence, and a wonderful way of phrasing that lifts the lyrics giving them a gravitas and meaning that might otherwise be lost.’ – Nick Lea, Jazz Views
‘Thought provoking, tender and sophisticated lyrics set to soulful jazz melodies that are fresh and well crafted’ – Claire Martin OBE
