Presenting Katharine Timoney, one of Ireland’s most compelling voices in jazz and soul, and a rising star championed by BBC Introducing NI and JazzFM UK. She joins forces with critically acclaimed pianist and “one of the biggest talents of British jazz piano” (The Guardian), Jamie Safir for an intimate performance of original songs and timeless jazz standards.

KATHARINE TIMONEY

Raised in Belfast, Katharine Timoney grew up listening to the voices of Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan. Her debut EP ‘Life Came into Colour’, produced and arranged by British saxophonist Ben Castle (Gregory Porter, Amy Winehouse), received significant support from JazzFM and BBC Northern Ireland, and was featured by Spotify as Best Vocal Jazz of 2022.

A winner of the BBC Young Musicians Platform Award and the UK Songwriting Contest (Jazz Category), Katharine’s sound blends vocal jazz with elements of retro soul, pop, and R&B.  In 2024, she caught the attention of Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2 with her latest single ‘All This Time’, taken from her upcoming EP, set for release this September.

Recent performances have seen Katharine take to the stage to packed-out audiences at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Cork Guinness Jazz Festival and with The Ulster Orchestra for a televised broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland.
