The Hampstead Jazz Club brings you a fabulous duo offering of jazz guitar. Featuring US acclaimed jazz guitar legend John Stowell and rising London guitarist and Tomorrows Warriors Alumni Tom Remon.
This is the London and final date of a short back-to-back tour of the UK. The two will be playing tunes from the Jazz Standard repertoire as well as some original music.
JOHN STOWELL
On a rare visit from the USA, and without doubt one of the most original jazz guitarists of his generation, John Stowell’s unique style continues to delight audiences around the world. Twice the recipient of Downbeat Magazine’s International Critics’ Award, his playing has been heard in the company of Milt Jackson, Art Farmer, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, and David Liebman, amongst many others. Influenced as much by pianists and horn players as guitarists, Stowell’s approach to the instrument is entirely his own, making this appearance at Hampstead Jazz Club a must-see gig.
“More guitarists would play like John Stowell if they knew how” – Herb Ellis
“John Stowell plays jazz, but he doesn’t use any of the clichés; he has an incredible originality” – Larry Coryell
TOM REMON
Tom Remon is a guitarist who cut his teeth with the Tomorrow’s Warriors, and made an impressive debut recording with UK jazz hero guitarist, Jim Mullen. Tom has toured extensively across the UK and over nine countries in Europe with MOBO award nominated Irish jazz drummer David Lyttle. Tom regularly performs with some of the most esteemed Jazz musicians from the UK including Soweto Kinch, Neil Yates, Steve Williamson, Jonathan Gee, Jim Mullen Binker Golding and many others, Tom has released three albums as a leader and is currently signed to Lyte Records.
