Anjali is a vocalist, pianist, songwriter and arranger-producer specialising in jazz, funk and soul working as a full time musician since graduating from the Jazz Masters programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after leaving her previous career as a corporate lawyer to pursue her musical path, which she’d honed from a childhood learning of Classical piano and violin alongside Indian Carnatic music and songwriting. Her first jazz album was signed to Jazzizit records and her performing highlights include jazz venues from Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club (Dean Street), to the Royal Festival Hall and National Theatre as part of their jazz events alongside festivals including Love Supreme festival. A career highlight was performing for and meeting Quincy Jones as part of The Montreux Jazz festival in Switzerland.

Anjali writes and releases her own songs, self produced and featuring her arranging talents under the artist name Pokkisham, which crosses multiple genres from jazz and soul to rock and Indian influences and has been supported by Jazz FM and BBC Introducing. Anjali is featured as one of their musicologists on BBC6 Music breaking down aspects of music and songwriting on the Huw Stephen’s Drivetime show. She is also a Senior Lecturer on the Masters programme in songwriting at ICMP in London.
