Tonight leading saxophonist Alex Garnett will be joined by our esteemed and long-standing musical director, the brilliant virtuoso pianist Jamie Safir “…one of the biggest talents of British jazz piano” – Jay Rayner, The Guardian”

In a rare and intimate duo format the pair will explore selections from the bebop titans a alongside some firm favourites from the Great American Songbook.

ALEX GARNETT

Alex Garnett has been one of the leading saxophonists in the UK and Mainland Europe for over two decades, instantly recognized by his dark, husky sound. A versatile musician, he has enjoyed success as both a jazz artist, composer and arranger, and an in-demand session, studio and commercial saxophonist, having racked up countless recording
credits along the way.

A ubiquitous performer with many of Europe’s leading bands from underground to pop, he’s a regular sideman of choice for many visiting American artists when touring in Europe, and has performed in over 30 countries worldwide appearing at such venues as the Blue Note, Birdland, as well as the Perugia, North Sea, Vittoria, Montreax, and Oslo Jazz Festivals to name but a few, with varied and diverse artists across the spectrum such as Sir John Dankworth, Wynton Marsalis, Pete King, Humphrey Littleton, Scott Hamilton, Van Morrison, Evan Parker, The Rolling Stones and more.

JAMIE SAFIR

Jamie is a Decca-Recording artist (featured on ‘Alone Together’) and a stalwart of the London Jazz Scene, performing regularly at world-famous Ronnie Scott’s club. In this intimate Jazz Festival special, he will showcase some brand new original material alongside imaginative arrangements of songs by The Beatles, The Bee Gees & George Michael alongside choice selections from the Great American Songbook.

Under the moniker ‘Emmanuel Sapphire’, Jamie’s solo piano compositions have been streamed over 35 million times with 400,000 monthly listeners all over the world.

As well as teaching at the Guildhall School of Music Jazz Faculty, Jamie has also recently produced an album for Ian Shaw, Emma Smith & Judi Jackson.

Jamie’s performance credits include: Will Young, Birdy, Olly Murs, Rebecca Ferguson, Mica Paris, The Brand New Heavies, Steps, Louise Redknapp, Paul Heaton (The Beautiful South), Gabrielle Aplin, Tony Hadley & Tony Christie.

​As a prominent member of the UK Jazz Scene he has worked with: Ian Shaw, Clare Teal, Judi Jackson, Claire Martin OBE, Liane Carroll, Joe Stilgoe, Iain Ballamy, Stan Sulzmann, Barb Jungr & Natalie Williams.

Seats are not numbered and you will be seated at available tables. Please note tables seat 4 people, so for bookings of less than 4 people, you will be seated and share a table for 4.

For £17.50 Tickets:

This is a fully seated event.  Seats are not numbered and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Please NOTE, there is NO food served in the Jazz Club, there is a bar for drinks. We advise booking a table for dinner at the Duke of Hamilton upstairs at least 1hr before show-time – Book Here 

Please note the Jazz Club is situated in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton Pub and access is via a number of stairs. The nearest toilets are situated on the 1st floor of the Pub.
