London Debut at The Hampstead Jazz Club
Vocalist Afra Jemina is a rising star of the Swiss jazz scene, who is noted for her pure voice and the attention to detail she brings to the lyrics of the songs she interprets. She distinguishes herself from her peers by vividly bringing to life the characters and stories of the Great American Songbook: timeless numbers by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers, as well as ‘forgotten’ standards, which were not originally written down. Making her London debut, she is joined by some of the UK’s most acclaimed young musicians in an intimately swinging quartet setting.
Hot on the European jazz scene, having recently toured in Bulgaria, Georgia, Turkey and Greece. Her latest project sees her giving some of these charming, almost-lost songs a voice again.
Line-up:
Afra Jemina – Vocals
Sam Braysher – Alto Saxophone
Joe Webb – Piano
Conor Chaplin – Double bass
